There are a variety of influences (stressors) that can cause a person to not feel well and drop below the wellness line.
- Foods (i.e. gluten)
- Nutrients (lack of absorption)
- Chemicals (too many to list)
These "stressors" can literally impact you physically, mentally, and emotionally .... case in point: my husband.
The past couple of months he has experienced decreased energy and stamina plus increased cold-like symptoms that seem to come out of no where. We just couldn't figure out what was going on. The only change in his routine is the current remodel project. He has been using the typical joint compound that he has used for years for the drywall. I had noticed how drained he seemed, however, after each day he worked on that.
So, we decided to do a Zyto Health and Wellness Scan to see if something would stand out. He had previously done one 3 months ago in August. Here were the results:
Do you see that change in the "Endocrine System"?! The TOP "stressor" was "endocrine disruptor".
Remember, the only thing that was new to his routine was the "joint compound". However, there was NO list of ingredients on the 5 gallon pail .... any where. The only warnings were for respiratory concerns. None of the ingredients resulting from a google search had any impact on the endocrine system. These were the only ingredients listed on the "Data Safety Sheet".
- Quartz (sand)
Clearly there was something not listed as an ingredient that was affecting my husband. I continued to search and found this article that mentioned the difference between "dry" mix compound and a "pre-mixed" compound. According to this author you should expect all pre-mix compounds to contain "biocides". By definition, biocides "destroy living things or life".
Biocides are "endocrine disrupters". This article helped me to see what other ingredients I should be searching for and what could be included in biocides such as "triclosan" which are endocrine disruptors. Biocides also do not dissipate .. they seem to remain forever. It also mentioned an "MSDS". This is the "materials" safety data sheet which is different from the "safety data sheet". Biocides are not required to be listed on an MSDS. However, notice what was listed.....
FORMALDEHYDE!! Formaldehyde was named in this project as a hormone-disruptor. It is even found in mascara and dryer sheets. I finally found the culprits ... biocides and Formaldehyde. It was all becoming very clear now ... how in just 3 months .... my husband's endocrine system had deteriorated so quickly and how it affected his ability to perform just the day-to-day functions. I was so happy to have finally found the root cause.
WHAT TO DO
Fortunately, there are products that are safer to use that have zero or fewer chemicals and no gluten.
- Use a dry mix vs pre-mix joint compound
- no preservatives/biocides/vinyl acetate
- Consider healthy brands of sheetrock
- CertainTeed is a good brand for gluten-free (joint compound be sure to check the dry options)
Formaldehyde and biocides are just a few of the many hormone-disruptors. They can be literally in everything from your cleaning supplies to your personal care products. This entire Zyto scanning experience was truly enlightening. Not only did the scan highlight the areas needing the most support, it also recommends things to do to support that area in the best way for your body.
We have used Zyto Health and Wellness scans many times. However, this is the first time it helped us figure out such a dramatic health change. They have been a huge benefit in more ways than one.
